Eser Başaran is a Turkish ceramic artist living in Istanbul and London.

Throughout her professional career, she mainly focused on interpreting and teaching, but her true passion has always been linked to artistic expression. Eser has maintained her relationship with clay since her university years. She has participated in national and international exhibitions and art events with the ceramic pieces she has produced in her studio since 2021.

Describing her ceramic works as a journey into the depths of emotions, Eser uses clay to articulate the intricacies of the human experience. Each meticulously hand-built piece offers a poignant reflection on the myriad struggles, wounds, loves, and joys that define our collective journey through life.

At the core of Eser’s artistic vision, lies the remarkable thinness of the clay she employs. With a delicate touch, she captures the essence of fragility and vulnerability inherent in the human condition, inviting viewers to contemplate the delicate interplay between strength and weakness. Eser often adorns her creations with exquisite touches of gold, symbolizing hope amidst adversity.

Eser’s style is contemporary and timeless, seamlessly blending traditional ceramic techniques with modern innovations. She has expanded her artistic repertoire by integrating an alternative medium; the use of glass adds a new dimension to her art, allowing for the interplay of transparency and opacity, light and shadow, further enhancing the narrative power of her creations.

The themes of Eser’s work remain profoundly introspective, delving into the complexities of human emotion. Each piece invites the audience to reflect on their own journeys and the broader human experience, fostering a sense of empathy and connection.
